Institute of Architects

When the Australian Institute of Architects needed more wow factor for their annual awards, they found the Gillard Group.

Jenni had already teamed with Steve Johnson to light the 2007 awards night – Cox Rayner’s spectacular hyperbolic twisting interlace of timber sticks suspended from the ceiling.

Jenni went on to design and oversee construction and installation of subsequent awards – bespoke lighting sculptures and stage lighting and coordinated with venue specialists.

From lighting massive PVC conduit that went from the floor to the cathedral ceilings of the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, onward to fluttering parachutes and ending in suspended butterflies – each made a striking impression on AIA members and great backdrops for photos of award winners.
