St Brigid’s Church

The Gillard Group won an international award for its lighting work on this iconic Australian church. Judges said:

“This project ….. stood out as an excellent example of architectural lighting …. considered, with regard to design approach and location, well implemented, revealing, calm and respectful.”

St Brigid was built in 1877 and is a massive structure dominating the inner west of Brisbane. The church is heritage listed, a city landmark and an architectural site of significance.

By night, special lighting effects showcase the church’s brickwork, sheer walls and buttresses – no side is lit the same.

Throughout, careful thought was given to energy consumption, function and maintenance.
