Mary MacKillop

Mary MacKillop was declared a saint by the Roman Catholic Church in 1995.

The brilliant sculptor John Elliot carved an over-sized image of Mary.  Each part was moulded from a 100 year old camphor laurel tree.  The parts were assembled and painstakingly joined.

The sculpture is in the Chapel (1850) of the adjoining St Stephen’s Cathedral, all of which were originally lit by Jenni and her then mentor, Steve.

This is Jenni’s favourite art piece, tribute to Steve, acknowledgement of Saint Mary’s community work and thank you to the late John Elliot’s masterpiece, skills and body of work.
